Trophies and the Playstation Network

I recently got Prince of Persia for the ps3 and I really enjoyed playing through the game. I’m not a serious gamer, I just enjoy playing for fun when I get a chance. While playing the game I noticed I won a few trophies. I was familiar with trophies, but I’d never won one in another game, and didn’t really understand their purpose until now. I’m addicted to collecting trophies. I only lack five trophies to be completely finished with Prince of Persia. They really add to a games life. Normally after beating a game like Prince of Persia I’d put it on the shelf and move on to another game. The trophies gave me another set of goals in the game and they’ve kept me playing Prince of Persia much longer than I anticipated.

I’ve since purchased Call of Duty World at War and Fallout 3 which both support trophies. I’ve won a few trophies on those games as well, and it’s really cool to compare trophies to your friends and see what they have and what you have etc, but I think they are still lacking something.

I’d love to be able to show off my trophies online either on a website, Facebook, or even just my Playstation profile on Sony’s site. It would also be nice if they supported some of the other features like comparing trophies with others online, but not tethered to a ps3.

I think the ideal solution would be an API that allowed you to retrieve information from Sony’s Playstation Network and display it on a website, or in a Facebook application.

If Sony doesn’t do something like that they should at least show Trophies on our Playstation Network profile instead of always showing some stupid survey of our gaming habits.

Sony are you out there listening…..I doubt it, but it would still be cool.
